What Color Are You?

What Color Are You? It’s amazing in these enlightened times that I have to ask this question, but I do. I don’t mean are you white, or black, or brown, or any shade in between? We all know that doesn’t matter. Right? …Right? So let’s get to the real issue. What color are you—on the […]

Giving Thanks

What is Thanksgiving? We celebrate a lot on Thanksgiving. I thought about all I had to be thankful for and decided that every now and then I’d dedicate my blog to someone special on my list of those who need to be thanked. My wife is always at the top of the list, and my […]

I’m Supposed to Be Dead

Inspiration I’m Dennis. Ya’ll know me by now. Giacomo saved me when I was just a baby, but now I can take care of myself. It was touch and go for a while; the vet even told Giacomo to, “put him down.” Imagine that! It had me worried, but I had some good advice from […]

Five Reasons I Hate My Wife

Today is my wife’s 60th birthday, and it’s quite possible she’ll kill me just for spreading that news. But since it is such a momentous occasion, I thought I’d dedicate today’s blog to her. Why I Hate My Wife I realize this sounds like a horrible title for a blog post, especially when I have […]

The Perfect Hospital Water Fountain

Substance Abuse Addiction and substance abuse affect almost every family in the country. If you don’t have someone in your family afflicted, or a relative, chances are you know someone. Growing up I didn’t realize this. Back then it was the kind of thing that was kept hidden. That uncle who was so hilarious was […]

Silver Linings

Life is Full of Surprises My mother wasn’t the smartest person in the world. Don’t get me wrong, she wasn’t stupid, she wasn’t even “not intelligent,” but she would never wow anyone with her fierce intelligence. She wasn’t the funniest person either. She had a sense of humor, but in our family her humor always […]

Writing Lessons From A Pig

Why My Book is Delayed My next book, A Bullet For Carlos, is going to be delayed a bit, probably a month or two. I blame it all on Dennis, our crazy wild boar. No, he didn’t eat the only copy of the manuscript. And he didn’t destroy my hard drive. What Dennis did was […]

Six Magical Words—The Secret to a Successful Marriage

My wife and I celebrated our 43rd anniversary yesterday. That’s what all the fireworks were about. Because of that, I didn’t have time for a long post, so I threw something together about marriage. What Makes a Marriage Work? Since I’ve started writing, a lot of people have asked questions about my background. Once […]

  • This blog will be a little different from many you see. Contrary to the characters in my books, I don’t really kill people, or catch those who do, so the blogs might be about reading, or writing, or animals. These are the things I have great passion for. It might also contain posts about food, or ancestry, or substance abuse. My oldest son is a great cook. My daughter is a genealogist (rootsintheboot.com) and my youngest son is a recovering drug addict. He has been clean for three years, and runs a rehab center (intoactionrecovery.com).

I hope you enjoy the posts, and please let me know what you think.

    Ciao,

    Giacomo
